“ALAS,
ART IS LONG,
AND LIFE IS SHORT!”

Benjamin Frankln

“The aim of every artist
is to arrest motion
& hold it fixed,
so that a hundred years later,
when a stranger looks at it,
it moves again…”

Stephen Fracul

Stephen Fracul

Stephen Fracul is a dedicated carver who has an extensive background
of over forty years, in working with wood.
Although exceptionally skilled in bringing any drawing to life,
Stephen prefers the challenge of the three dimensional art forms.
Since each piece is hand carved, each art piece can only be one of a kind…
Stephen mixes and matches the different hardwoods together.
Adding no tints, dyes or colors
he works with and allows
 the select hardwoods themselves
to express their own variation of hues and grains.
The end result reminds us of the endless variety and talent of nature itself..
Anything which you see that is white
is hand carved from antler and brought to an ivory-like finish.
This technique adds charm and intrigue to the image.
The antler is either bought, traded for, or found on the forest floor.
Each and every detail is individually hand carved..
His style is very controlled and tight.
All of his work is 100% natural and right out of the woods.
Encouraged by his family
he shares with you some examples of his work…
